Student Personal Beliefs & Behaviors – Math Efficacy: Problem Solving Strategy Use

  1. How certain are you that you could find more than one way to solve a math problem?
  2. How confident are you that you could translate a word problem into numbers and equations?
  3. How confident are you that you can figure out how to begin solving most math problems?
  4. How sure are you that you could use pictures or graphs to solve difficult math problems?

It is recommended that these items be used on a 7-point scale that is anchored at the endpoints and in the middle with the following options (certain, sure, or confident). E.g., Not at all sure (0), Somewhat sure (3), and Very sure (6).
