Student Personal Beliefs & Behaviors – Help-Seeking


  1. If I didn’t understand something in this math class, I would ask my teacher for help.
  2. If I didn’t understand something in this math class, I would ask another student in class for help.
  3. Others would think I was dumb if I asked for help in this math class.
  4. Even if I couldn’t finish an assignment for this math class, I wouldn’t ask for help.
  5. If I were to ask for help in this math class, it would be to quickly get the answers I needed.
  6. If I were to ask for help in this math class, it would be to learn how to do the problems.

It is recommended that these items be used on a 7-point scale that is anchored at the endpoints and in the middle with the following options: Not at all true for me = 0, Somewhat true for me = 3, and Very true for me = 6.
